NGO Fundatia Copiii Nostri , THE TOY HOUSE program, Bucharest, Romania
A community-based educational child care facility that also serves as a community center for vulnerable families at risk of abusing or abandoning their children. Through parenting classes and home visitation families are empowered to access community services, solve problems, and keep their children healthy and safe.

NGO Holt Romania LONG TERM SIBLING FOSTER and GROUP HOME CARE program, Sighisoara, Romania
A program that has reunited older sibling groups (children aged 8-16) from orphanages and placed them in Romanian foster families and group homes. Older youth are assisted with continuing education and transition to independence as contributing adult members of society.

Romanian NGO Inocenti/parent NGO Romanian Children's Relief ME AND MY FAMILY TOGETHER program, Bistrita, Romania
A program providing specialized activities and support for the transition of children from orphanages and hospitals into local foster or adoptive homes. Children with special needs receive therapeutic support from physical therapists and trained outreach workers.

NGO COTE Romania GRADUATE program, Iasi, Romania
A program for recent orphanage graduates that provides interim housing, counseling and life/job skills to help them successfully integrate into the community. Older youth are assisted with continuing education and transition to independence as contributing adult members of society.

NGO Fundatia Morning Glory House CASA SPERANTA program, Constanta, Romania
A model family-style program providing care to mostly HIV+ children who were abandoned and severely neglected in institutions throughout Romania. Older youth are assisted with continuing education, job skills training and transition to independence as contributing adult members of society.

NGO Aldeas Infantiles SOS Guatemala, NEW DAWN COMMUNITY CENTER Sajquilles, Montúfar, Guatemala
A community-based educational child care facility that also serves as a community center for families in need of assistance. Parenting classes and life skills support empower families to care for their children and keep them healthy and safe.

USAID/World Learning, COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS program, Russia and Ukraine
An international cultural and professional exchange program funded by USAID that brings child welfare professionals from former Soviet republics to the U.S. to learn and share best practices in child protection. In 2008 Lift the Children served as a host organization for professionals from Russia and Ukraine.
